Broadband was ordered and installed with static IP’s on an Intelligent Gateway. A server was created along with a work machine and these were installed in the office. A switch was also installed allowing for switching between the server and work machine; this meant only one screen was required. A WorldPay account was also setup to allow for online payments to be made through the website that was to be created and for payments to be manually taken through an online terminal.
A database was created and placed on the server where Coldfusion was also installed. This allowed the database to be accessed by Coldfusion and therefore from the website that was to be created.
The website was designed in a centralised table style with bars down each side. One contained the search facility and the other contained the Business consultant login area. Flash movies were produced that incorporated retailer images and a scrolling text effect. All the pages on the site contain dynamic content of some kind, connected to the database through the Coldfusion server.
Users can go to the site and fill out a membership form, retailers and service providers also join-up by paying a fee and setting their advert up. When member forms are created whether standard or for retailers the information is instantly inserted into the database.
Bespoke software was written for Universal Discount Club allowing them to manage all their member types. For example, not only can members be added/removed there is a direct connection to the online payment console, retailer/service provider advert boxes are generated, advert styles are selected, logos added and colours selected. This updates the information on the website straight away. There are many more facilities in the software, to many to mention here!
